The End of The Internet

|Let's Tweet

We've reached the end, the end of the internet.

Errr, well, not exactly. But if you are looking at the numbers of new websites that have come online in the past year, it has been a very slow year percentage wise compared to most years.

Of course, I haven't visited many of them but as of the end of December 2008 there were 186,727,854 websites online according to Netcraft News which completes Internet Research.

Year# Of Websites# Growth (in millions)% Growth
200575,251,156
2006106,875,13831.642%
2007155,583,82548.746%
2008186,727,85431.117%

Does this mean its time to panic that the end of the world wide web is near? Hardly. We are just seeing a smaller percentage growth as the same number of websites continue to come online. As you can see, we have come a long way since 2005 by doubling the amount of websites available to those who are online.
