Tonight I received a call from Ramada Plaza Resorts stating I had won a free vacation. I then asked if they were affiliated with Ramada Plaza Hotel and they proceeded to tell me yes they were and asked, don't you see Ramada Plaza Hotel on your call display? I informed her no because I only see her number and long distance call. She then told me that she is from Ramada and is ready to book my vacation that I had won. I asked the lady to call me back in 20 minutes to investigate...
A quick call to Ramada Plaza Hotel confirms the scam.
Ramada Plaza Resorts IS NOT Ramada Plaza Hotel, even though they claim they are affiliated.
To add an extra twist, apparently Canadians are experiencing their own version of this scam.
Update: The lady called me back and became all defensive when I asked her where she was calling from. She informed me Ontario and that no one in the past two weeks has asked her that.
The numbers that came up on my call display was 1-905-595-0640 and the first time she called it showed Unknown name however the second time she called my call display had said Ramada FTL ORL.
