Again Tourism Charlottetown did a great job with another festival. The Jack Frost Festival brought thousands of people to Prince Edward Island during the slower winter months and the economic impact was expected to top $1.5 million according to the report in todays The Guardian.
I am a firm believer that Tourism Charlottetown should continue to lead the way in performing such great revenue generators for local business.
By pulling such events of, it does nothing but increase the money flow in our local economy. Same goes with the Festival of Lights which is going to be drummed down to a maximum of 10,000 people this year (including all the free passes given away).
As a downtown resident, I must say that during the 2008 Festival Of Lights, I was in bed before the festivities concluded and slept through any "loud rowdiness" however was disappointed that I was woken up twice early Saturday morning by a youngster outside my window crying.
I really should be complaining about the noise but no pain, no gain.
Let's hope the 2009 Festival of Lights is as big a success as the other years as tourism will be taking a major hit this year with the economy in a downward slope.
