It's about 10 minutes from the new Island EMS location out on the Sherwood Road to the old Neils Ambulance locations on St. Peters Road. The ambulance system was moved from the middle of the city, to the edge of the city. Of course this is going to increase wait times for the city and I think we need to get Island EMS back into the city to ensure our ambulances are effectively positioned for any emergencies.
Charlottetown makes up 32,000 of the Island population while Stratford makes up another 7,000. Thats 39,000 people which is more then 1/4th the Island population. However in terms of ambulance service, its probably at least 95% of the population for the Charlottetown ambulance district.
You'd think to ensure an effective and efficient use of the resources, Island EMS would move to a central location of it's primary target and not further away. While I do understand that we need more ambulances, it doesn't help when a company makes themselves less efficient, especially when it comes to live or death situations.
The Charlottetown based Ambulances cover, "North Tryon and Stanley Bridge and as far east as Morell and Vernon Bridge".
