When ever I connect my iPad to my MAC laptop, both iTunes and iPhoto load up. This is incredibly annoying since I don't use my MAC laptop to sync with my iPad.
To prevent this from happening with iPhoto:
Connect your iPad
Go to your Macintosh HD icon on the desktop, then applications, then Image Capture
Select your iPad
Bottom left hand corner where it says, connecting your ipad opens. Change this to No Application
Voila, no more iPhoto upon loading your iPad.
With iTunes:
Connect your iPad
Go into iTunes
Select your iPad under devices
On the iPad page, look near the bottom under options
Uncheck "Open iTunes when this iPad is connected
